Fedora 8 Not Booting After Installation – solution

1. Boot With fedora dvd in rescue Mode . Add the line libata.dma=0 at the end of rescue option by eiditng it with e

select your options and then, when you’ll get a terminal run chroot /mnt/sysimage.

mount your linux partition . configure your internet at command line .

update the following 2 packages with yum

for i686:
e2fsprogs-1.40.2-10.bz398281.1.fc8.i386.rpm
e2fsprogs-libs-1.40.2-10.bz398281.1.fc8.i386.rpm

for x86_64:
e2fsprogs-1.40.2-10.bz398281.1.fc8.x86_64.rpm
e2fsprogs-libs-1.40.2-10.bz398281.1.fc8.x86_64.rpm
e2fsprogs-libs-1.40.2-10.bz398281.1.fc8.i386.rpm

then
- add ‘options libata dma=0′ to vi /etc/modprobe.conf
- run mkinitrd to create a new initrd. mkinitrd detects the options line in modprobe.conf, so, when libata.ko is loaded from initrd, the right parameter is passed.

mkinitrd initrd-2.6.23.1-49.fc8.img 2.6.23.1-49.fc8

Parameters for modules in initrd are passed through the file init, contained in the initrd itself. They cannot be changed by the command line

Windows only: Freeware application Anti Keylogger Shield blocks keyloggers from tracking the passwords and other personal information you type on your computer. Unlike other similar tools, Anti Keylogger Shield does not detect existing keylogger software; it just disables the mechanisms they use to record your typing. While I can’t vouch for this app across the board, I did install one keylogger and it worked as advertised—I typed, but the log remained empty. This would be a real winner if it were portable and could run from thumb drives. (For portable protection, check out previously mentioned SafeKeys.)

YouTube recently started offering video playback in higher-resolution, better-sounding formats like MP4, and that bump in quality can now be downloaded for desktop use as well. The Google Operating System points out two easy methods for grabbing files: A bookmarklet that adds a “Download as MP4″ link to video pages when clicked, and a Greasemonkey script that automatically creates the link. Both require that you right-click and assign the to-be-downloaded file the “.mp4″ extension, and both may violate YouTube’s terms of use, but, as blog author Ionut points out, the same files are available in your browser cache after watching. Hit the link to grab the bookmarklet and Greasemonkey script for Firefox (and Opera) users.

Answer “No to All” When Copying Files

If you’ve ever copied a folder’s worth of files in Windows, you’ve come across the Confirm File Replace dialog, which asks you if you want to replace an existing file with a new file. You have the option to answer Yes just for this file, Yes to All—which will just replace all the originals with the new copies—or you can say No; what’s missing is a button to say No to All. Rather than clicking No countless times if No to All is what you really want, tech weblog Online Tech Tips points out that Windows simulates the No to All response if you hold the Shift key and then click No. It’s a strange feature, and actually one that we covered years ago, but it’s worth a second mention. Vista changed this dialog entirely, but if you’re still living la vida XP, it’s a good shortcut to know.

Since we mentioned Notepad2 back in 2005, the application has seen several updates, including a new release just this week. Get code syntax highlighting, regular expression search, better text selection options, and support for Unix and Mac-created text files in Notepad2, which can run standalone from a thumb drive. You can even replace Windows Notepad entirely with Notepad2, though it takes a few steps—here’s a tutorial on how for XP users, and one for Vista users. My one gripe about Notepad2? There are two main ways that you can make money from domain names – you can either use a domain name that means something (eg business.com) or you can use a domain that gets a lot of visitors. It may surprise you to learn that these domain names are not necessarily the same thing.

Most of the domains which are a word or phrase are already taken. To get a domain that means something you need to think latterly, think ahead and register a domain name before anyone else thinks of it. For example, in the boating world there were yachts, then super yachts, and perhaps now mega yachts – so if you can think of what the next term will be, then it may be worth your while registering the domain and waiting for a few years until the term becomes widely used. If you get it right then you may well be the owner of a domain name worth a lot of money.

The other way of making money with domains is to get a domain name that already has a lot of visitors, and then monetizing the domain – normally through advertising. This can be a lucrative business for those with the knowledge of how to find well visited domains and I will now try to explain how these domains come about, and how you can find them.

It is important to realize the distinction between a domain name, and a website. A good analogy is to think of the domain name like a telephone number, and the website as a company. When you call the telephone number you get to talk to someone at the company, which is similar to when you enter a domain in an internet browser you get to see the underlying website.

Imagine a sales company starts up, promotes its telephone number, and then at a later date the company ceases to trade. People will still be calling the telephone number even though there will be no one to answer it. If you were in competition with the original company, it could prove lucrative to have their old telephone number redirected to your company.

Domains and websites work in a similar way. A domain name gets registered, a website gets built, and then the domain/website is promoted all over the internet, sometimes with thousands of links pointing to it, which results in thousands of visitors. But a domain name can only be registered for a set period of time and at the end of this period the owner can chose to renew the registration. However, domains don’t always get renewed, so the domain becomes available again to be registered by anyone else.

These domains are called expiring domains (or expired after they become available to register again). If you can find an expiring domain that has been well promoted then you will have the opportunity of registering that domain, and making money from it. So the trick is to find these valuable domains. You need to find domains which are about to become available again, and then figure out how many links are pointing at each domain – in general the more links pointing at a domain, the more visitors a domain, and hence website, is going to get. This can be a lot of work, but there are websites that can provide you with this information.

How do you feel when you do not get any comment on your blog or have very few reads. Depressed. You worked hard to write and nobody showed interest in reading. There may be many factors behind it. Sometimes your post get unnoticed due to heavy rush of posts or an unattractive heading. If a writer pastes too many posts at a time all of them can not get good readers in a short period. Too many posts from a person also create problem for other members who are online to submit their posts. There are many other factors too. Let us discuss a few steps that you can take to increase the number of readers.

1.Value of a Heading

Most of the members do not care enough to give a good heading to their post. Devote some time and think several headings for a post. Choose the most attractive and the most relevant.

2.Informative and Interesting

The matter of your post must be informative as well as interesting. If bloggers feel bore they may not read other posts written by you. If they like your writing they may go to read your other posts too. Although you may write on any topic on the earth but do write more often on the field you specialize in. It ensure more visits in future.

3.Never Too Lengthy

Keep maximum limit of your posts to 1000 words. Posts which are too lengthy may create disinterest in readers. In case you can not keep this limit because the topic of your article demands more words them keep your writing very interesting. Read your article several times to check if it has the power to hold the attention of the reader. Posts should not be too short either. It must contain at least 200 words.

4.Give Links of Your other Articles

Many writers give links of other sites under their articles or comments. It is mostly useless until you are popularizing your own site. Publicity of other sites will prove bad for your own blog. You will get less readers and less income. Give links of your others good articles in your blog. It will increase readership of your other articles too. It will also get more readers for you from search engines. It is a phenomenon only a few wise writers understand.

5.Tag Your Content

Many sites provide facility of Technocrati tagging – good to popularise your blog in the long run. Tag your every writing with a few good key words relevant to your article.

6.Do Write Comments But..

Do not write hurried-comments to get points. It will not popularise your own blog. Write good comments and you will get good comments in return. It will help you to get more readers not in present but in future too. It will also popularize you on the site. Result: more readers.

7.Invite your Friends on the Site

The best way to create the interest of your friends and acquaintances on the site or your own blog is to send them links of good articles by emails and ask them read those aricles. Whenver those persons visit the site by hitting the link (easy way to invite them) they will definitely visit your blog too, and read several of your articles.

8.Copy-Paste Technique and Search Engines

You may get more points and readers in the beginning, but it will not help you build a good blog. Many readers just copy from other sites and paste in their blog. They get points and think they will also get more ad clicking and thus more income. But in future your blog will not be able to gain strength and get good readership. Search engines also hate such blog – labelling it as spam. Result: less readers or visitors from search engines. Though you may copy and paste (but only now and then) to help readers get good information but be careful about giving the source of the article/writing. And do not whether a site or writer allows it or not.

9.False Readership

Many bloggers show a cleverness by creating false readership to show they are getting readers. But in the long run this clever tactics proves a suicide of your blog. Readers can easily understand it and my ignore your other articles. Modern software also detects this tactic and your articles may be removed from the site. You also face cancellation of your membership.

10.Quality is Heavier than Points

Points are there to encourage a member to write more. It may also help you to get some more income. But if you rush for posting and commenting just for points it will not be a good strategy for getting more readership or really good income in future. Quality should be your watch word. A few of your articles/posting must prove real blockbuster (capable of attracting a large number of readership).

And dear friend, please be careful to your grammar and punctuation. Keep space in paragraphs. Keep sub-headings bold.
